No, it was different

This may be out of date. Our newest evidence is over eighteen months old, and hotels change coffee suppliers more often than that. Treat it as a starting point.

What to bring

No coffee maker, but the kettle is all you need

There is no coffee maker in the room, but there is a kettle — which is genuinely the more useful of the two. Hot water plus almost any lightweight brewer gives you better coffee than a hotel pod machine ever would.

  • An AeroPress Go, or a collapsible pour-over cone and filters
  • Steeped coffee bags, which need nothing but a cup and hot water
  • Specialty instant coffee — genuinely good now, and the lightest option there is

“On our first day we had to change rooms as the allocated room had very little wardrobe space, no kettle as advertised and a bathroom only fit for a two star hotel.”
