Hotels with no in-room coffee maker
Some hotels have quietly removed in-room coffee makers, and a growing number of design-led and budget properties never had them. Knowing in advance is the whole point — it is a twenty-second packing decision, not a problem, if you find out before you arrive.
How it works
The reasons vary. Some hotels want you in the lobby café; some removed machines during the pandemic and never brought them back; some are betting that guests do not notice.
Where a property has no coffee maker but does have a kettle, you are in good shape: that is the better of the two for anyone who brings their own coffee.
Where there is neither, a travel kettle or a no-equipment option like specialty instant is the answer.
What to bring
- Specialty instant coffee or steeped coffee bags — no equipment beyond a cup and hot water.
- A travel kettle, checking the destination voltage before you pack it.
- A collapsible dripper and filters, if you can get hot water from somewhere on the property.
