Corrections policy

A site that makes thousands of factual claims will get some of them wrong. What matters is what happens next.

How to report an error

For a hotel, use the confirmation form on that hotel’s page — it attaches your report to the right property and the right fact. For a guide, or anything else, email us.

What we do with it

  • Hotel facts. A moderator checks the report against our stored evidence. If the report is better evidence than what we have — and a recent stay usually is — we update the fact, mark it editor-checked, and the previous value moves into that hotel’s coffee history rather than disappearing.
  • Guides. We correct the text and update the “updated” date. For anything that changes the substance of the advice, we say what changed at the foot of the page.
  • Systematic errors. If a mistake came from our extraction logic rather than one bad source, we fix the logic and re-resolve every affected hotel, not just the one that was reported.

What we will not do

We will not remove an accurate, well-sourced fact because a hotel would prefer it were not published. If a property’s rooms have no coffee maker and our evidence supports that, the page says so.

We will of course correct it the moment that stops being true — and if you run the hotel, your word on your own property is the best evidence available. Tell us and we will update it.

Preserving history

Corrections never erase the record. Every change to a resolved fact is kept with its old value and date, which is what makes the coffee history on a hotel page possible and what lets us audit our own mistakes.
