A plug adapter changes the shape of the pins and nothing else. A single-voltage kettle from a 120V country will not work safely on a 230V supply no matter which adapter you use — check the label on the appliance for a dual-voltage range before you pack it. More on travel kettles and voltage →
What to expect in the room
An electric kettle is close to universal, including in the smallest business-hotel rooms, and it is usually a good one. Rooms very often supply green tea, and increasingly instant coffee or hanging-ear drip bags — single-serve paper sachets that hook over a mug and make real filter coffee. Pod machines are rare outside international luxury brands and are not much missed: convenience-store drip coffee is excellent and never more than a few minutes' walk away. Note the 100V supply, the lowest in common use.
